The Basic Difference between Dry Heat and Damp Heat of the Sterilizer

Sterilizing cabinets have two different ways of sterilization: damp heat and dry heat. The difference in sterilization methods also determines the range of their respective use. Some products need to be dehumidified, and some products only need to be sterilized.
Both the hygrothermal method and the dry heat method are physical sterilization methods that use heat factors to kill microorganisms, but their sterilization mechanisms are different. That is, the hygrothermal method is mainly caused by the coagulation of micro-organisms’ proteins, and the dry heat rule is through dehydration. Drying oxidizes, denatures, carbonizes, and concentrates electrolytes to poison and kill microorganisms.
Their operating characteristics are also different. The fundamental difference is that when the disinfection and sterilization process is performed, the heating environment and the humidity level of the microbial cells are different: “Heat and heat” heating refers to the heating of the microorganisms and the heating environment are all in the state of humidity saturation. At this time, the microorganisms are in equilibrium with pure water or saturated steam; and the “dry heat” heating is used to refer to heating in a heated environment that is water-free or under-saturated, and the humidity level can be zero, or Just below saturation.
In general, microorganisms are more tolerant to dry heat than hot and humid ones. That is, the protein content of hot and humid coagulation proteins is much lower than that required for dry thermal oxidation of proteins, thereby killing microorganisms; and the presence of moisture facilitates the coagulation of proteins in the heat. In the local environment where the effect is, the more water or humidity is higher, the lower the temperature required for protein coagulation, and the faster the solidification rate, the better the killing effect on the peripherals.
In addition, hygrothermal penetration is also stronger than dry heat, because steam and water conduct heat more efficiently than air. Secondly, when the steam condenses, a large amount of latent heat is released, which can quickly heat the object. Because of the difference in the sterilization mechanism and the heating characteristics, the hygrothermal sterilization is not only reliable, but also reduces the sterilization temperature and shortens the action time.
It can be seen that the moist heat sterilization effect is stronger than dry heat. If your product has strong heat endurance, it is recommended to choose the moist heat sterilization cabinet. If your product is not very demanding, then you can also consider the dry heat Sterilizer.
